Royal International Air Tattoo 2002

BFBS broadcasting to the world from RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire – July 2002

by Chris Payne

When the opportunity of engineering the Vulcan FM RSL at RIAT 2002 on behalf of BFBS, came up, and to broadcast live to the world on the BFBS network from there, I jumped at the chance to be involved.

Much cable and equipment later, we assembled 200m away from the main runway at RAF Fairford for a week!

Great fun!

Keeping the Services' world informed of proceedings at Fairford were (among others) Presenter Chris Pearson, Engineer Martin Richards, Chris's wife Dianne, Presenter Neil Knowles, Senior Engineer Chris Payne, Production Assistant Heidi Secker and BFBS Radio 2 Producer Jonathan Bennett
