I Cry Alone Jackie Lee Decca F12068

I Cry Alone is a Bacharach and David composition. Jackie Lee reappeared in the Fab Forty two years later under the name of Emma Reade.

Hawaii Tattoo Waikikis Palette PG 9025

The Waikikis was a group of studio musicians hailing from a country rather more than a coconut's-throw away from Hawaii – Belgium!

Hawaii Tattoo spent two months in the Belgian charts and was a huge hit in Germany, spending 37 weeks in the Top Ten. It also reached the Top Fifty in USA, Canada and the UK.

Most of the information about the band is in German, but Google translations reveal that the producer of Hawaii Tattoo was German and that the Waikikis didn't confine themselves to instrumentals. They also sang, apparently '...in a language that might have been Polynesian... but probably wasn't'. The site also reveals that that their music embraced 'klanglicher palm power and pseudoPolynesian Wortgeklingel'. Mmmm, nice!

Perhaps our friends in Belgium and Germany can supply more information. (Thanks to Hans Knot for Belgian chart information)

Anyone who enjoys wobbling their hips in a grass skirt in the privacy of their own home, will appreciate the 32-track Waikikis CD.
