A question mark hangs over this track, as Trini Lopez appears never to have released a single called 'Willow'. Whether the track noted was actually a recording by another artist, or a genuineTrini Lopez single with a different title – perhaps even an acetate that was withdrawn by the record company, as we have seen happen in the Big L Fab Forty – is currently unknown.

A Lopez single by the name of The Bramble Bush is admittedly in keeping with 'tree' connotations, but was not released until June '67.

Radio London was not playing any Lopez releases at the time and after one week, the 'Willow' single disappeared from the Caroline chart. However, two weeks later on April 8th, 'Gonna Get Along Without You Now', which had been released on February 10th, enters at #45. Keith Gunson suggests the following explanation:

"I accept that I may well be barking up the wrong tree on this, or merely just engaging in over-imaginative speculation, but to my ears, when Trini Lopez sings the word "without..." the lilting style in which sings it may have possibly sounded like "willow", particularly if the young person who took note of the chart when it was broadcast was from Europe rather than the UK...."willow" being the nearest translation for brevity when DLT was counting down the songs."

Mishearing the title seems a very likely explanation, especially when that track reappears in the Caroline Countdown a couple of weeks later.
