I am honoured and delighted to be a recipient of one of the final Radio Day Awards, which is also an accolade to Chris and to everyone who has kindly contributed to the Radio London website over the years.

On Friday 28th March, we celebrated not only the 50th anniversary of the start of offshore radio, but the website's 15th birthday, on March 29th. Thanks to everyone who has visited the website over the years

Here are some of the lovely messages of congratulations we have received. Please don't be offended if yours is not included, but they are far too numerous to include all of them. We can assure you that we do appreciate all of them equally.

With many thanks, Mary Payne

Hans Knot
Well the three of you, good to hear you've come back safely and enjoyed your stay in the Lowlands. Keep up the good work and both of you earned the Award, surely that's what we meant to say with it!

Mary, congratulations once again on receiving your award, you definitely deserved it for all the hard work and countless hours you've put into running the Radio London web site, I've attached a photo of you and Chris holding up your plaque and hope that it will bring back some memories of that special moment for you both.

You won - and so you should! Well done girl!
Phil and Gill Martin
We will be thinking of you on March 29th and raising a glass of unfermented grape juice at home to all our Offshore Radio friends and especially to you and Chris for the huge achievement that is your website. You richly deserved the award and Gill and I were truly thrilled with your win.

As you know I hoped and believed you would be honoured.

Well done. Do keep in touch. And lots of love from us both.

What a well-deserved honour!!! Congratulations and I most certainly will raise a glass on Saturday. Your site is vital in keeping the memories of one of the most vibrant periods of musical history alive and it deserves to be recognized for the fabulous job you've done. This is absolutely great and I'm so very appreciative that you thought to send me a note.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this to you, (old age has set in you see), but my first volume, 'What About Us? A Rocklopaedia Of Britain's Other Recording Groups' was given a 5 star rating by Record Collector in its review and they selected it as one of their Top Book Picks for 2012.  It was quite funny as all the magazines who reviewed it gave it a great review but all made comments about the fact that it was done by a Canadian author.

I'm presently working on Volume 2 which is titled "What's That Sound? A Rocklopaedia Of Britain's Other Recording Groups 1967 – 1969".

Thank you again for thinking of me.  I'm so very pleased at the recognition awarded to you and Chris and your wonderful website, which I continue to reference by the way.

Cheers and well done, Bruce

Many congratulations on your much deserved award and not before time!

I'd say it's a great photo of you with the offshore jocks and you're in exalted company BUT you and Chris fully deserve your place alongside these guys. Since 1999 your Radio London website has done extremely significant work in not only placing all the information about pirate radio in one place but it has also served as a catalyst for bringing together all the original DJs and personnel from those great stations - not just Big L. That is a magnificent achievement.

Not only is your work extremely entertaining and interesting, it has also been a huge influence on myself....as you have seen :-)

Once again, many congratulations, take care.... love to Moosie (his band probably get along better now without Arnold)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I've always loved the Radio London website, and it's about time someone who gives awards for such things agreed with me!

I know how much hard work goes into the site, and it's really good to see it pay off for you in a way you're certainly entitled to brag a little about.

Again, congratulations. It's this sort of thing that makes me very proud to know you!!!

Congratulations, félicitations, for this well-deserved recognition. Your "ship" has come in!

This award is a testament to your passion, dedication and relentless attention in preserving the on-going history and legacy of Radio London and its people and confirms that you have and continue to make a difference. As the curator of twin radio tributes and archives myself (and also a former longtime Top 40 radio deejay), your effort has always been one of the key inspirations for my initiatives and I am so very happy for you both. "Mais Oui" raise a pint or two to your success!

Wishing you (and Moosie Payne) many more years of keeping the memories of an exceptional radio era alive.

Cheers, santé mes amis ...and keep in touch!
